National Orangutan Awareness Week

MEGA joined BGSA (Biology Graduate Student Association) at the Philadelphia Zoo for National Orangutan Awareness Week. The rain forest where orangutans live are being destroyed to make way for farms. The farms are used to grow palm oil, which is in many products we buy everyday. We can fight deforestation and threat to orangutans by not purchasing products containing palm oil. Zoo volunteers educated us on the crisis and we ran interactive exhibits to introduce zoo visitors to the issue.

MEGA 2011-2012 Executive Board Election

It is the time of year again for Mechanical Engineering Graduate Student Association (MEGA) 2011-2012 Executive Board Election. The following Executive Board positions need to be filled by enthusiastic and motivating individuals who wish to serve the MEM graduate student body. If you are interested in running or would like to nominate someone for a position, please email Chris Swin at ss423@drexel.edu with nominee name and a short candidate platform (less than 150 words). Please send the nomination email by 5pm on Thursday (June 09, 2011). The election will take place on Friday (June 10, 2011) via electronically.
Available Positions
(1) Chair – Overall sees all MEGA operational activities and acts as a direct liaison with the department and GSA to represent the MEM graduate student body
(2) Vice Chair – Aides the President and directly responsible for the operations of the MEGA; will carry out duties and responsibilities of the President in the absence of the President
(3) Treasurer – Manages the finances
(4) Secretary – Handles all correspondence, communication, information streaming and clerical tasks
(5) EGA Rep – Engineering Graduate Association Representative
(6) Community Service Chair
(7) Professional Society Liaison
(8) Web Master
Nominees must be active MEM graduate students.
